Be sure to leave 1/2 to 3/4 inch overhang on sides of remnants after testing on dolls body, the length of the garments won’t matter, you can do this any way you want. You can finish the edges by turning under twice or if you are adept cutting interfacing (just trace the neck edge onto a shorter rectangle the same width as the first {about 1/2 inch}). The inseams of pants and shorts can be cut in a slash or in a narrow rectangular shape !!, let the side seam allowance be ample. This will gather at the waist to skim over the hips and thighs. The extra seam allowance together with the gathered drawn waist will created the volume capacity to hold the hips and thighs without being too tight. If you are simply making a skirt or top the seam allowance can be 1/4 inch to 5/8ths of an inch.
To make drawstrings, use shoe laces, neckchains, crochet a chain about 3 to 5 inches long, or cut a strip of woven fabric, a hankie (worn) bandana or temnant, about 3-5 inches long and 2/3 inch wide fold over triple lengthwise and baste. The ends can simply be knotted.
